Ichen Art Academy K-12 Visual Art & Summer Programs is led by Founder and Principal Ichen Wu, who has over 30 years of teaching experience, is a Master of Chinese Painting & Calligraphy, a K–12 art education specialist, and a college portfolio expert. The program features a systematic K–12 curriculum, small class sizes, college portfolio programs, AP Studio Art, and summer and intensive programs, with hands-on leadership by Principal Wu. It offers two distinct pathways focused on elite university admissions and top art and design schools, along with options to book a free trial and a free consultation with advisors.
Founded in 2011, Ichen Art Academy builds on Principal Wu having taught in the Bay Area since 1997, with results noted over 15 years under her leadership. The academy holds WASC accreditation and reports more than 100 perfect scores on AP Studio Art exams, 12 Harvard and Stanford acceptances for non-art majors, and 7 ArtCenter Entertainment Design acceptances in 2025 alone. Additional reported results include California’s only Gold Medal Portfolio recipient in 2025 and recurring Gold Keys and top awards in regional and national competitions.
Testimonials from parents and students describe long-term enrollment, AP art participation, and college outcomes such as admission to the #1 fashion school in the U.S., MIT, Harvard, and ArtCenter College of Design’s Entertainment Design – Concept Art program. One student testimonial specifically mentions learning techniques in varied media such as mandalas, collage, inking, and digital painting, and notes the use of MAYA 3D and 3D modeling in class projects.
