About
StarStruck Theatre offers summer performance camps, musical theatre workshops, group voice lessons, acting classes, and musical theatre dance classes. All cast members receive intensive training in singing, dancing, and acting, and also learn “behind the scenes” aspects of theater. Summer camps focus on training in the core elements of musical theatre: singing, dancing, and acting, and include Moana Jr. 2-Week Performance Camps and StarKids 1-Week Camps.
• Ages: 8–14 years old
• Schedule: Moana Jr. – 2-Week Performance Camps; StarKids – 1-Week Camps
StarStruck Theatre was founded in 1995 by Lori Stokes, and in 2000 it became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and officially changed its name to StarStruck Theatre. It is a non-profit youth performing arts organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of a diverse community by providing theatre arts education, performance opportunities, and musical productions of uncompromising quality. StarStruck Theatre produces two mainstage musicals each year and offers classes through START (Student Training in the Arts), an education program featuring classes and camps. It is the only year-round non-profit all-youth theater company in the Tri-City area and brings musicals of uncompromising quality to the East Bay.
The leadership team includes Founding Artistic Director Lori Stokes, Box Office Manager Irina Tselikova, Programming Director and Teaching Artist Courtney Stokes, Production Manager and Teaching Artist Anthony Wickier, MainStage Music Director and Teaching Artist Nancy Godfrey, MainStage Choreographer and Teaching Artist Francesca Cipponeri, Teaching Artist Molly Anderson, and Summer Camp Teaching Artist Garrett Deagon. Lori Stokes is a graduate of San Diego State University. Broadway alumni from StarStruck Theatre include Juliane Godfrey (The SpongeBob Musical) and Kristin Stokes (The Lightning Thief).
StarStruck Theatre produces matinee performances for elementary schools, after school classes, and school break camps, and attracts actors, singers, and dancers from the Tri-City and Tri-Valley areas and beyond. StarStruck Theatre was created as a theater program for neighborhood children. Audience members have said, “I can't believe those were kids!” and “That was better than the Broadway production!”
