Pretend City Children’s Museum Programs are part of a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that depends on community-based funding and guest support. The programs are based in a child-size interconnected city that includes interactive exhibits and activities facilitated by trained professional staff. The museum’s mission states that it is designed for children to learn how the world works while engaging their curiosities and imaginations, balancing rich educational learning experiences with boundless fun, and allowing children to try on real-world roles in a hands-on environment where academic concepts have real-life application. The organization describes itself as a unique community resource offering developmental screenings and tools for families, educators, and community agencies. The museum notes that to protect the health of the Pretend City Children’s Museum community, families are asked to only come play on days that everyone is feeling well.
