Theater for Young Professionals

Theater for Young Professionals focuses on musicals, plays, and short films, along with acting, singing, and performance techniques. Participants can take part in activities such as classical, contemporary, rock, and Broadway singing, as well as stage combat, singing lessons, acting coaching, and musical theater summer camps.

Theater for Young Professionals describes itself as La Mesa's premiere youth acting school and production company that specializes in musicals, plays, and short films. The organization states that it is a nonprofit and that support and contributions enable it to fund its mission of quality performances and training in order to grow the arts in the community. The program notes that participants train with San Diego's international award winning professional actors and that it has award winning teachers.

Company Membership is optional and not required to participate in shows, camps, or classes. Company Members receive one free class each session (three per year) or a 50% discount on a camp, and each Company Member can participate in one class per session at no additional cost in areas such as acting, voice, stage combat, and dance. If a Company Member does not use the free classes, one camp receives a 50% discount. Company Members receive exclusive access to internships and special performances in cabarets and promo events, have access to monthly Company Member events, and can direct 50% of sponsorship money to their account for use in TYP programs. Starting in 2025, Company Member production fees are discounted by $95 for Junior shows and $50 for Senior shows. The program also notes that it has convenient and flexible hours to fit scheduling needs and that its space is available for rent.
