About

Free To Be Me Childcare is a privately owned Christian child care program where children plant, grow, and harvest fruits and vegetables in a beautiful garden. The program is on a unique campus with goats, chickens, and potbelly pigs, and children are encouraged to help feed and care for these animals. A commercial cleaning tool is used for extra sanitizing and disinfecting in the classrooms each night, teachers are wearing masks, parents are asked to wear masks, cohorts are kept together, and a stricter illness policy is in place.

• Ages: 0–12 years old
• Schedule: School hours Monday–Friday, 7am–6pm, with full-time and part-time options including Mon–Fri, Mon/Wed/Fri, and Tues/Thurs

Free To Be Me Childcare is a Christian school with a stated mission to provide a warm and loving environment that meets children’s and families’ needs physically, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. The program describes a child-centered environment where children’s curiosity in exploring, learning, and understanding their world is cultivated, and where children with all abilities are accepted and included. The mission statement also emphasizes mutual trust between parents and teachers and describes early childhood as a time of laughter, love, play, and fun while learning with peers.

The program operates in a former elementary school facility with a beautiful garden and a campus that includes goats, chickens, and potbelly pigs. It offers infant care, preschool, and before and after school child care. The program is highly rated by First 5 of California. Staff hiring information states that the program looks for teachers who love children and have ECE units.

Parent testimonials describe the facility as clean and well run, note that the rooms are a lovely size, and mention that the director, Netti, is friendly and that many children run up to her for hugs. Other parents describe the teachers as loving, caring, and wonderful, say their children often did not want to leave, and share that the program felt like family. One testimonial mentions a long wait list and thanks specific staff members by name: Miss Netti, Amy, Jillian, Lisa, and Nancy.
