Livermore Valley Academy was founded in 2019 and states that its mission is to offer an exceptional educational experience in a diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment. The Slingerland Program at the camp is described as an intensive learning experience tailored for students diagnosed with a Specific Learning Disability and uses a multi-sensory Slingerland approach, with two Slingerland-certified teachers, including Ms. Hernandez. The camper-to-staff ratio is listed as 14:1, and 9:1 for preK–Kinder, with truly small class sizes averaging about 10 students per class and a maximum of 18 in middle school, and individualized learning plans for all students.

The campus includes a behind-the-church setting set back from street traffic, a one-way secured entry, fully fenced playground and play areas, security cameras, walkie-talkie communication, a state-of-the-art fire and sprinkler system, bathrooms inside classrooms, bright classrooms with natural light, a music room, flexible project spaces, and industrial-grade cleaning routines with daily disinfecting. Staff are CPR/First-Aid-trained and conduct regular emergency drills. Before-school and after-school care are included in tuition for the school program.

The school notes that it takes full advantage of Livermore’s cultural and scientific resources for educational field trips and serves families from Livermore, Dublin, Pleasanton, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Discovery Bay, the Tracy area, and other parts of the Tri-Valley. Parent feedback shared by the school includes comments such as “My child is finally excited about school again,” and multiple parents describing Livermore Valley Academy and the Slingerland Program as important for their children’s reading, writing, and interest in art.
