About
Long Beach Swim Club is a competitive swim team where swimmers take part in swimming drills, dryland cross training, and swim meets. The program includes a competitive swim team and uses both in-water training and dryland work as part of regular practices.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Trains five days per week (Monday–Friday) year-round
Since 1967, Long Beach Swim Club, also known as “Beach Club,” has trained competitive swimmers. Swimmers age 4 and up are welcome to join, and swimmers must know the two basic strokes (freestyle and backstroke) and be able to swim 25 yards without stopping. It is recommended that swimmers attend a minimum of three training sessions per week to gain the full benefit of the Beach program. Beach participates in swim meets and encourages each swimmer to compete, although it is not a requirement.
Long Beach Swim Club describes itself as a boutique competitive swim club that focuses on individual talents and creates a specialty program that causes dramatic athletic improvements. Training is geared towards achieving maximum strength and avoiding injury, and Beach uses dryland as a way to increase strength-to-weight ratio, develop core strength, and prevent injuries. Workouts are scientifically based upon energy system analysis.
All coaches at Long Beach Swim Club are certified members of USA Swimming and members of the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA). The leadership team includes Head Coach Dr. Teresa Pascuzzo and Associate Head Coach Nathan Walter, who heads up Beach’s Senior Program. Dr. Teresa Pascuzzo is a Level 5 ASCA Coach. Long Beach Swim Club is the only small USA Swim team program that has had four Olympic Trial qualifiers, and the club has had four Olympic Trial qualifiers.
