Martial Arts of Los Altos offers martial arts classes that include traditional martial arts training, traditional martial arts forms, kicking and stance training, body conditioning, and self defense. Classes use games and exercises that require self-control, along with fun workouts and traditional weapons training. The program practices family oriented martial arts based on Korean traditions and incorporates techniques and practices that value and promote confidence and self-discipline for all ages.

The program’s mission statement is that it offers martial arts classes that self-discipline for all ages. Martial Arts of Los Altos practices Mirae Mu Sool, described as a systematic and extremely well-organized study of traditional Korean fighting arts that integrates and explores all aspects of traditional Korean martial arts. Mirae Mu Sool is stated to cover the spectrum of traditional Asian fighting arts, body conditioning, mental development, and traditional weapons training. The program notes that through diligent and faithful practice, martial arts training will develop strength, speed, endurance, balance, timing, flexibility, coordination, powers of concentration, self-discipline, and self-control, and will enhance circulation and digestion, reduce problems of the back and joints, help in weight loss, and help to develop and maintain a youthful appearance.

Classes are described as family oriented martial arts based on Korean traditions, and family members including brothers, sisters, mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa can all practice together in class. Traditional martial arts forms are described as teaching children to achieve and maintain focus, and games are used as an instructive tool for children to creatively explore within rules and exercise self-control. Children are encouraged to take greater responsibility in achieving given goals to learn self-confidence. The program states that martial arts can benefit men and women of all ages, has classes for all ages starting as young as 8 years old, and offers a free introductory lesson. With over 30 schools worldwide, participants can practice this system of martial arts in many locations.

Martial Arts of Los Altos is led by Dave Hespelt (Master Dave), who is an 8th degree black belt and serves as Chief Instructor, Owner, and practitioner at Martial Arts of Los Altos, LLC.
