A Chance to Dance (ACTD) offers free ballet, dance, and fitness classes that include Adult Beginner Ballet, Intermediate/Advanced Ballet, Youth Ballet, Children’s Creative Movement, and Pilates Mat. The program also includes alternative dance and fitness classes, lectures and demonstrations, and free ballet and movement instruction. A Chance to Dance (ACTD) Community Day is a monthly community outreach initiative that incorporates a theme around which the day’s events are centered, with example upcoming events listed as Sundays from 9:00 AM – 1:15 PM.

A Chance to Dance (ACTD) is described as a hands-on outreach program offering free ballet and movement instruction for all ages, and class size is not limited. Participants are asked to bring a completed Registration Form on arrival, and the form may also be filled out in person before class. Each month during Los Angeles Ballet’s season, the dancers of Los Angeles Ballet offer free ballet classes, alternative dance and fitness classes, and lectures and demonstrations for a range of experience levels and age groups.

In 2012, Los Angeles Ballet launched A Chance to Dance (ACTD), and Los Angeles Ballet was founded in 2004. In 2025/2026, Los Angeles Ballet celebrates its 20th Anniversary Season. The leadership team connected to the program includes Laura Chachich, Director of Education Programs; Melissa Barak, Artistic Director; Julia Rivera, Executive Director; Thordal Christensen, Artistic Director Emeritus; Colleen Neary, Artistic Director Emerita; Julie Whittaker, Executive Director Emerita; and Allynne Noelle, founder of A Chance to Dance (ACTD) Community Day. Los Angeles Ballet’s Power of Performance! (POP!) program has provided a minimum of 10% of tickets to all performances free of charge to organizations that support underserved communities across Los Angeles County.
