About
Napa Regional Dance Company offers year-round classes in classical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, and choreography. Students take part in several performance opportunities each year, including an annual production of the classical ballet The Nutcracker and a year-end Student Showcase that presents classical and contemporary dance works. The program also offers a six-week summer intensive program that is open to the community and students across the country.

Napa Regional Dance Company, Inc. was founded in 1988 by Janet Mangiaracina and Wanda Martin McGill as a professional partnership based on a shared philosophy about dance education. It has been offering classical ballet and contemporary dance to Napa Valley’s youth for 37 years. The program focuses on the Vagonova style of training and regularly brings professional dancers and master teachers to the school for additional enrichment. Instructors have professional backgrounds, having performed with groups such as American Ballet Theater, Dance Theater of Harlem, Oakland Ballet, Ballet West, the Joffrey Ballet, and the Boston Conservatory, and they have completed graduate-level university work and specialized training in classical and contemporary methodology from renowned dancers, choreographers, and teachers.
The mission of Napa Regional Dance Company is to provide excellent dance training and education while promoting dance as an art form and as an educational form. Many students are accepted to pre-professional training programs each summer, and alumni have continued on to professional and collegiate dance programs across the country.
The annual production of The Nutcracker is presented to the Napa Valley community during the holiday season. Each spring, the company presents an annual spring showcase called “Zoetic” at the Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center. Napa Regional Dance Company offers educational outreach programs to schools through lecture demonstrations, and the Napa Regional Dance Foundation sponsors the Arts and Education Project, an initiative to bring dance awareness and its importance in the community.
