About

Napa Regional Dance Company offers year-round classes in classical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, and choreography, with a focus on the Vagonova style of training. Students participate in an annual production of the classical ballet The Nutcracker and a year-end Student Showcase that presents a repertoire of classical and contemporary dance works. The program also includes a comprehensive 6 week summer intensive that is open to the community and students across the country.

Napa Regional Dance Company, Inc. was founded in 1988 and has been offering classical ballet and contemporary dance to Napa Valley’s youth for 37 years. It was founded by Janet Mangiaracina, who formed a professional partnership with Wanda Martin McGill to create the company based on their shared philosophy about dance education. The mission of Napa Regional Dance Company is to provide excellent dance training and education while promoting dance as an art form.

The instructors at Napa Regional Dance Company have professional dance backgrounds, having performed with groups such as American Ballet Theater, Dance Theater of Harlem, Oakland Ballet, Ballet West, the Joffrey Ballet, and the Boston Conservatory. In addition to graduate-level university work, the instructors have received specialized training in classical and contemporary methodology from renowned dancers, choreographers, and teachers. NRDC regularly brings professional dancers and master teachers to the school to provide additional enrichment.

The annual production of The Nutcracker is presented to the Napa Valley community during the holiday season. The Napa Regional Dance Foundation sponsors the Arts and Education Project, an initiative to bring dance awareness and its importance in the community. Napa Regional Dance Company offers educational outreach programs to schools in the area through lecture demonstrations and presents a year-end Student Showcase of classical and contemporary dance works.
