ParentsCAN offers one-on-one consultations, group support, and parent education for families with children with disabilities and special needs. Its classes and workshops include Grow Together Playgroup, Special Education Workshops, Parenting Classes, Triple P Positive Parenting Workshops, Special Education Fundamentals, Beyond Special Education Fundamentals, Introduction to ADD/ADHD, Parent Stress Reduction, Skills for Effective Parent Advocacy, Project Leadership, Technology Support, Stepping Stones Triple P, and Stepping Stones Triple P Group Level 4.
Programs
- Special Needs — Birth to 26 · ParentsCAN provides support for families with children with disabilities and special needs; services are delivered through one-on-one consultations, group support, and parent education.
- Class — Ages 0-5, 0-22, 0-25, 17-25, and 3-22 depending on the class · Classes and workshops include Grow Together Playgroup, Special Education Workshops, Parenting Classes, and Triple P Positive Parenting Workshops.
- Grow Together Playgroup — 0 to 5 · Free, fun playgroup focusing on a different area of development over 5 weeks; available in person and bilingual English/Spanish.
- Special Education Fundamentals — 3-22 · For parents and caregivers of children ages 3-22 who may be eligible for or are new to Special Education; available in person in English or Spanish.
- Beyond Special Education Fundamentals — 3-22 · For parents and caregivers of children ages 3-22 with an IEP; Special Education Fundamentals is a prerequisite; available in person in English or Spanish.
- Introduction to ADD/ADHD — 3-22 · For parents and caregivers of children newly diagnosed with or suspected of having ADD/ADHD; available on Zoom in Spanish.
- Parent Stress Reduction — 0 to 22 · Workshop for parents and caregivers of children with special needs or disabilities; available in person in English or Spanish.
- Skills for Effective Parent Advocacy — 3-22 · Class for parents and guardians of children with a special need or disability; available in person in English or Spanish.
- Project Leadership — Children with special needs; ages not stated · Eleven in-depth sessions for parents and caregivers of children with special needs; available in person in English or Spanish.
- Technology Support — Drop-in help for parents and caregivers struggling with a tech issue on a phone, tablet, or laptop; provided in partnership with Napa Adult School.
- Stepping Stones Triple P — 0 to 12 · Seminars for parents and caregivers of children with special needs or disabilities; available in person in English or Spanish.
- Stepping Stones Triple P Group Level 4 — 0 to 12 · A 4-week parenting course for parents struggling with challenging behavior; available in person in English or Spanish.

About the provider
ParentsCAN is a Family Resource Center founded on July 1, 2005. Its mission is to partner with and guide parents when challenges arise in a child's education, health, behavior, or development, so children can reach their full potential. The leadership team includes Joan K. Lockhart, Charles Morse, Bill Allen, Joan Harrison-Cohn, Paul Hoffman, Jan Bouch, Erica Conway-Wahle, Bill Peatman, and Ida Price.
Your child does not need to have a diagnosis for your family to get help. Most services are free to families, and most resources and services are available in English and Spanish.
