Newport Sea Base Programs include activities such as STEM Design & Build Workshops, bay and ocean fishing, sailing, rowing, kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, and use of giant 10 person paddle boards. Participants can take part in oceanography, marine biology, engineering projects, basic robotics, underwater drone exploration, squid and shark dissections, slime labs, soap making workshops, mini LEGO car builds and races, and fishing with underwater cameras. The programs also offer cooking sessions, arts and crafts like clay sculptures, water bottle rockets, Paddle Sport Olympics, pontoon boat harbor excursions, beach scavenger hunts, and visits to the Sea Base Aquarium and Hermit Crab Exhibit.

• Schedule: Summer camp runs June 8–August 14 with quarter-day, half-day, and full-day sessions, and Aquatic Day Camps are offered as half and full day experiences from 8:30am–4:30pm
Newport Sea Base Programs include Youth Sailing with Sailing 1 & 2, Big Boat Sailing, Family Sailing lessons, a Junior Racing Team, dinghy sailing, keelboat sailing, and motorboating and motor boat driving. Rowing options include Learn to Row Level 1 & 2, an Introduction to Competitive Team, a Middle School Team, and a Competitive High School Team, with no experience necessary for rowing programs. Additional offerings include instruction in boating safety, stand up paddle boarding, and activities such as practicing first aid and CPR on electronic sensor mannequins, as well as merit badge classes in Communication, Environmental Science, Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Citizenship in the Community, and Engineering.
Summer camp is described as 10 weeks of camp, with limited classes offered in weeks 1 and 10, and quarter-day, half-day, or full-day sessions available. Aquatic Day Camps activities are led with the safety of trained lifeguards and staff. Paddle Sport Olympics highlight the week in Paddle Sports Aquatics Day Camp, Squids Day Camp does not require a swim check, and no experience is necessary for Youth Sailing for ages 7–17.
Newport Sea Base was established in 1937 and has provided educational maritime-based programs to youth since 1937. The mission of Newport Sea Base is to provide a marine-oriented public education and recreation facility for youth and young adults for substantial public benefit in the form of enhanced knowledge, awareness, and understanding of the marine environment and aquatic recreation. The site is provided courtesy of the Orange County Board of Supervisors and operated by the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America. Many charter school students are entitled to use charter funds to pay for classes and camps, with possible limitations based on charter school restrictions, and programs are offered year-round in sailing, rowing, science and skills, and aquatics.
