Newport Sea Base offers activities such as sailing, rowing, kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, giant 10 person paddle boards, Bay & Ocean Fishing, and motor boat driving and motorboating. Participants can take part in STEM Design & Build Workshops, oceanography, engineering, basic robotics, underwater drone exploration, mini lego car build and race, water bottle rockets, test and build your own mini helicopter, and STEM programs like Maker's Workshop, Ultimate Robots, and UPcycle Creation Lab. The program also includes squid dissections, shark dissections, slime labs, soap making workshops, fishing with underwater cameras, touch tanks with sting rays and sharks, shark and stingray touch tanks, the Sea Base Aquarium, a Hermit Crab Exhibit, beach scavenger hunts, arts and crafts like clay sculptures, pontoon boat harbor excursions, cruises of the harbor via pontoon boat, Paddle Sport Olympics, and practice of first aid and CPR on electronic sensor mannequins, along with Intro to Cooking and Cooking (Sat).

• Schedule: Summer camp runs June 8–August 14 with 10 weeks of camp, with options to register for one week or more at a time; Aquatic Day Camps are offered as half and full day experiences from 8:30am–4:30pm, and AM and PM sessions offer different activities.

Newport Sea Base offers quarter-day, half-day, or full-day session options and Aquatic Day Camps as half and full day experiences from 8:30am–4:30pm. Squids Day Camp is for ages 5–7 years old with no swim check required, Paddle Sports Aquatics Day Camp is for ages 11–17 years old as an ultimate paddle sport experience, and Youth Sailing is for ages 7–17 with no experience necessary, including dinghy sailing and keelboat sailing and boating safety. The rowing program offers introductory and competitive rowing, with Learn to Row beginning as young as 7th grade and preparing young athletes for the competitive high school program, and Sea Base Rowing has had over 20 recruits to top college programs in the last few years. Many charter school students are entitled to use charter funds to pay for classes and camps, with some limitations that may apply based on restrictions per charter school, and the program is open to all youth, including Scouting members and other youth and young-adult organizations, with year-round classes in a wide range of maritime-based programs for girls and boys.

Newport Sea Base was established in 1937, and since 1937 it has provided educational maritime-based programs to youth. The mission of Newport Sea Base is to provide a marine-oriented public education and recreation facility for youth and young adults for substantial public benefit in the form of enhanced knowledge, awareness, and understanding of the marine environment and aquatic recreation. The site is provided courtesy of the Orange County Board of Supervisors and operated by the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America.
