About

Camp Pathfinder offers hands-on science, creative exploration, and immersive, TEK inspired arts and science labs. Each day follows an elemental pathway aligned with the four cardinal directions: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. Campers participate in immersive, TEK inspired arts and science labs led by content experts, Cultural demonstrators, Native artisans, animal ambassadors, and Elders, and all children are welcomed, with any special needs, dietary restrictions, or adaptive supports listed in registration. Campers grow through three age-based learning circles called Wiggle Worms, Mischief Makers, and Wise Old Owls.

• Ages: 6–12 years old
• Schedule: Two sessions in summer 2026
• Price: Cost: $375 per camper

Camp Pathfinder (formerly Camp Coyote) resumes in Summer 2026 as a land-based learning journey rooted in TEK, Cultural Emotional Intelligence, hands-on science, and creative exploration. It is grounded in the museum’s values of respect, empathy, belonging, kinship, and celebrating identity. Session 1 runs June 15–18, 2026, and Session 2 runs June 22–25, 2026, with space limited to 15 students per age group or learning circle per session. Campers are grouped into Wiggle Worms (ages 6–7), Mischief Makers (ages 8–10), and Wise Old Owls (ages 11–12).

For over half a century, the center connected with this program has been dedicated to celebrating and preserving Indigenous cultures. The Museum of the American Indian’s mission is to uplift, support, and make visible the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas by offering authentic educational programs and cultural resources to Marin and the greater Bay Area.

Support for this program has been provided by the California Arts Council, the Marin Community Foundation, the San Francisco Foundation, and the Coast Miwok Tribal Council of Marin. Additional funding connected to the center’s work has been provided by First 5 Marin for the Aay-Ko Indigenous Nature-Based Playgroup, and by California Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act economic stabilization plan of 2020.
