St. Francis Preschool offers play-based programs that focus on curiosity, exploration, experimentation, and play. St. Francis Preschool has been serving families in the Northern Bay Area and has been a part of the North Bay community since 1967, and it welcomes second-generation families whose children are alumni. The program is dedicated to nurturing children’s social-emotional development and social competence by encouraging appropriate self-expression, kindness, respect, and meaningful friendships, with consistent modeling of positive interactions. All teachers meet or exceed state requirements for Early Childhood Education, and several hold Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education and/or teaching credentials, with many having Master’s degrees and many years of teaching experience; staff are described as experienced and highly trained. The leadership team includes Director Jesse Parish; Acting Director, Enrollment & Community Engagement lead Melanie Young; Lead Teacher TK Shoshannah Vorhies; Lead Teacher Classroom D Cookie Carville; Lead Teacher Classroom C Rosa Mendez; Lead Teacher Classroom B Beth Mason; Lead Teacher Aftercare and Front Office Secretary Cathy Rapoport; Teacher Classroom C Corlett Osbourne; Teacher Classroom B Caroline Smith; Teacher Zoë Vorhies; and Teacher Classroom D Christine Reyes. The program reports having some of the lowest student-to-teacher ratios in the area and describes itself as a nurturing, holistic early education experience that supports children socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. St. Francis Preschool holds License #210102938. In-person small group and individual tours are available for the 2026–2027 school year.
