East Bay Flag Football (EBFF) began in 2013 as a community-built nonprofit and operates as a California nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. East Bay Flag Football is unifying Alameda and Oakland into one nonprofit league focused on accessibility, community, and expanding opportunities for all youth. Using player registration fees, EBFF has donated more than $34,000 to local schools, community groups, and charitable organizations, and members of the Board of Directors receive no compensation.

Coaches in the program receive Concussion Certification, are required to complete background checks, and can get certified. Peter Ferioli is the current owner and operator of East Bay NFL Flag and former Executive Director of East Bay Flag Football. EBFF describes itself as once again the East Bay’s home for fun, inclusive, competitive flag football and states that this relaunch rebuilds the program from the ground up as a true community nonprofit focused on safety, coaching quality, fairness, scholarships, and giving every child the chance to play, learn, and grow.
