East Bay Warriors Football and Cheer is a youth football and cheer program. Through this program, participants are taught to use and think about their bodies in a healthy way through exercise and to compete against their own abilities while learning how to be an active participant of a team. The program emphasizes sportsmanship, integrity, ethical behavior, individual and team accountability, meeting commitments, diversity, teamwork, open communication, feedback, and building trust.
Established in 1998 in Oakland, California, East Bay Warriors Football and Cheer has a stated mission to instill in each participating community youth the principles of sportsmanship, academic responsibility, honesty, self-esteem, loyalty, courage, cooperation, and reverence to further their growth and emergence into society. The program includes academic achievement support such as tutoring and scholastic recognition, as well as self-esteem support through mentorship, kind words, and providing a person to talk with. It also focuses on imagination by encouraging vision and letting young people know that dreams are good, perseverance by encouraging them to always stand tall, cooperation by learning how to be a team player and work with anyone, sportsmanship by treating everyone with fairness and encouraging others to do their best, focus by striving to be the best and always having a goal in mind, and concentration by staying on a path and making wise changes when needed. Community involvement includes players, cheerleaders, dancers, parents, fans, coaches, staff, board volunteers, sponsors, Pop Warner, and communities.
