• Ages: 0–12 years old
In 2000, Betty's Children's Academy emerged to educate, inspire, and enrich the lives of infants, toddlers, and preschool children living in the Bay Area. In 2004, the program expanded services from a family childcare center to a preschool and child care center. In 2010, Betty's Children's Academy self-published an academic journal named "Ready Set Go! Preparing Preschoolers for Kindergarten."
The infant program offers a loving and stimulating environment with age-appropriate activities. The toddler program encourages exploration and discovery through structured, play-based learning. The preschool program prepares children for kindergarten by focusing on academic and social skills. The school-aged program offers enriching activities, homework support, and a safe environment for older children before and after school.
Betty's Children's Academy states its mission as providing a safe and nurturing environment for children's growth and development. The program has a community garden that began with a federal grant in 2010 for their very own community garden.
From 2009 to 2013, Betty's Children's Academy received multiple recognitions, including "Best in Oakland" Child Care Services from the U.S. Commerce Association in 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009. In 2011, it was an awardee and scholarship recipient under recognition of the Oakland Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and received a grant from Digital Intelligence Systems Corporation for its commitment to education and the community. In 2010, it received a federal grant for its community garden. In 2009, it was nominated in the "Best of the Bay" and published its first preschool academic journal, "Ready Set Go! Preparing Preschoolers for Kindergarten." In 2008, it received a $10,000 Quality Improvement Grant to enhance health and safety equipment for the infant and toddler program and was named Best Child Care in Alameda County in the Best of the Bay.
