In 2000, Betty's Children's Academy emerged to educate, inspire, and enrich the lives of infants, toddlers, and preschool children living in the Bay Area. In 2004, the program expanded its services from a family childcare center to a preschool and child care center. In 2009, it published its first preschool academic journal, "Ready Set Go! Preparing Preschoolers for Kindergarten," and in 2010 it self-published this academic journal. The stated mission is providing a safe and nurturing environment for children's growth and development.
The infant and toddler program offers a loving and stimulating environment with age-appropriate activities. From 2009 through 2013, Betty's Children's Academy was a recipient of "Best in Oakland" Child Care Services from the U.S. Commerce Association. In 2008, it was named Best Child Care in Alameda County in the Best of the Bay, and in 2009 it was nominated in the "Best of the Bay." In 2011, it was an awardee and scholarship recipient under recognition of the Oakland Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, and it received a grant from Digital Intelligence Systems Corporation for its commitment to education and the community.
