About

Orange County Council Scouting Camps offers a wide range of activities, including team building exercises, STEM activities, zipline, rock wall, archery, bb gun targets, swimming pool time, hiking, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and canoeing. Campers can take part in team competitions, relay races, scavenger hunts, wacky games on the water, kayak basketball, and an ultimate frisbee water edition. Some camps include specific experiences such as the Canoeing and Kayaking merit badges for registered Scouts BSA members, the SUPSQUATCH 10-person Stand Up Paddle Board, GIANT kid-sized paddle boards, fun science projects, arts and craft projects, building and racing a mini-sailboat, and a mini car build and track race competition with Lego bricks.

• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: Each Adventure Pass activity is approximately 60 minutes and includes training time.

Additional program options include on-the-water activities with kayaks and stand up paddle boards, dock fishing, marine exploration with underwater cameras, wacky science, water bottle rockets, chemical reaction projects, and drone flying. Several camps feature rotating STEM Lab Series, such as Shark Dissection Lab, Slime Lab, and Snap Ships Build & Target Challenge at Junior Aquatics Camp, and Squid Dissection & Art Lab, Bubble Mania, and Slime Lab at Squids Day Camp. Squids Day Camp notes that it offers activities at the waterfront and beaches with no swimming expertise required. For Cub Scouts, Squids Day Camp includes completion of the Tiger “Floats & Boats” and Wolf “Spirit of the Water” adventures.

The Orange County Council notes that, for more than 100 years, Scouting in Orange County has helped build future leaders by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun and adventure in the outdoors. Its mission statement explains that Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives, and that Scouting programs have long instilled the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Scouting in Orange County serves more than 20,000 youth and is divided into seven geographical districts made up of local Scouting units chartered to schools, religious organizations, or community centers.
