artWORKS Teen Art Center

artWORKS Teen Art Center offers teens the chance to work in silk screening, graphic design, print design, photography, studio recording, video editing, graffiti art, spoken word and poetry, and other visual and performing arts. The program provides space for performances and exhibits and offers classes and workshops in a variety of arts.

• Ages: 11–18 years old
• Schedule: Space is used by Learning Works students only from 12 p.m.–4 p.m. and is open to all youth in the San Gabriel Valley at 4 p.m.
• Price: Rusnak Auto Group leases the space for LW’s arts facility for $1 a month.

artWORKS is designed to facilitate the development of artistic expression for youth in Pasadena and to enable youth to expand their knowledge of language, technology, art, and culture in order to engage students in academic achievement, postsecondary education, careers, and community service. It is a collaboration of Learning Works Charter School and Armory Center for the Arts and “started with a yes!” from Victoria Rusnak of Rusnak Auto Group, which leases the space for $1 a month. The program connects youth to a multitude of community resources in the arts, encourages teens to express themselves through multiple art forms, strives to provide positive alternatives to destructive behavior for the region’s most at-risk teens, and engages any middle or high school student in a passion for the arts.
