artWORKS is a collaboration of Learning Works Charter School and Armory Center for the Arts. Rusnak Auto Group, a Pasadena-based company, leases the space for LW’s arts facility for $1 a month, and artWORKS “started with a yes!” from Victoria Rusnak of Rusnak Auto Group. The program’s mission states that it is designed to facilitate the development of artistic expression for youth in Pasadena and to enable youth to free their existing passions and expand their knowledge of language, technology, art, and culture in order to engage students in academic achievement, postsecondary education, careers, and community service. artWORKS is described as a connection for youth to a multitude of community resources in the arts, and it strives to provide positive alternatives to destructive behavior for the region’s most at-risk teens while engaging any middle or high school student in a passion for the arts.
