Twinkles Dance Program was initiated in 2004, when Maria Nikolishina laid the first brick for the Twinkles program at Dance Street studio in Pasadena, California. The program was initiated to empower neurodiverse children and adults through sensory-friendly dance education and offers sensory-friendly classes guided by instructors with distinct expertise in working with neurodiverse and neurodivergent individuals. It is described as an inclusive dance program for the community and a leading inclusive dance program for the community.

The program promotes enjoyment in all aspects of assisted ballroom dance learning and enables participants to graduate through a medal program with the confidence to engage in performances and competitions. It also aims to foster lifelong friendships by sharing the love of dance and includes an invitation to join in July 2025 to celebrate every individual’s potential.

The leadership team includes Founder and Studio Owner Nikolay Voronovich, Founder and Studio Owner Maria Nikolishina, Dance Instructor and Studio Manager Rebekah Casillas, Dance Instructor Caroline McClarity, and Dance Instructor Sho Harvey. In 2004, Maria Nikolishina is described as a special education graduate and champion ballroom dancer who became a top world dancer, earning the American Champion title. Rebekah is described as a ballet and ballroom dancer with extensive experience teaching neurodivergent individuals. Sho is described as equally skilled in instructing neurodivergent dancers and bringing analytical precision. Caroline is described as a professional American Rhythm dancer and expert with neurodiverse learners.

The stated vision for Twinkles on Dance Street is to be a leading inclusive dance program for the community that fosters opportunities for creativity and adaptive pathways and empowers individuals of all abilities to achieve their dancing dreams, and it expresses the hope to inspire all dance studios to encompass inclusiveness in their own dance programs and to help light the way.
