About
Youth of Promise is a program that invests deeply in at-promise youth through enrichment, mentoring, and academic support. The program is part of Flintridge Center, which also trains formerly incarcerated individuals for careers in union construction and works on breaking down barriers for community members following incarceration.
The mission of Flintridge Center, which runs Youth of Promise, is to break the cycle of poverty and violence through community planning, innovation and action. Flintridge Center’s focus on Pasadena and Altadena comes from long-standing disparities, and its youth programs remain focused on these communities while almost 50% of adults served come from other communities in Los Angeles County. The organization has a history that began with the Flintridge Foundation, which operated between 1986 and 2007, after which remaining assets were used to form Flintridge Center as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Youth of Promise is connected to a leadership team that includes Catherine Co, Chief Financial Officer. Cathy is responsible for managing Flintridge’s financial activities and records and has experience in public accounting, as a comptroller, and in banking and family business finance. She received a BA in accounting from the University of Santo Tomas, pursued graduate studies at Ateneo De Manila Graduate School of Business, and passed the California CPA in 1988.
