Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestras offers weekly ensemble rehearsals where students prepare music together and perform in concerts during the year. The program includes in-school instruction in Pasadena Unified School District and a free two-week summer camp for PUSD students. Students can participate in a full range of ensembles for different levels, including All City Orchestra, Prelude Strings, Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra, Overture Strings, Symphony, Sinfonia, and Philharmonic, and share what they have been working on in two concerts throughout the year.

Since 1972, Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestras has provided young musicians with meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and perform, both in the community and beyond. Each season, the program serves more than 700 students from 29 cities, 21 school districts, and 129 schools across Los Angeles County and the San Gabriel Valley. Students participate in in-school instruction in Pasadena Unified School District with professional teaching artists in classrooms, and the program expands access through scholarships. Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestras responds to community needs, including an instrument drive that returned more than 300 instruments to students affected by the Eaton fires. The program is led in part by the Director of Education and Community Engagement, Alex Chu.
