The Laurel Foundation Camps offers resident and day camp programs for at-promise youth, including transgender and gender-diverse youth, youth impacted by HIV/AIDS, and young key populations at risk of HIV. The Laurel Foundation creates vibrant communities where youth are empowered to discover their authentic selves through cost-free educational and support camp programs and year-round mental health, education, and leadership development programs.

• Price: It costs $2,600 to send a child/youth to camp for a week.
Founded in 1993, The Laurel Foundation’s cost-free educational and support camp programs impact the lives of over 503 transgender and gender-diverse youth and vulnerable youth at risk of HIV each year. Through cost-free year-round mental health, education, and leadership development programs, The Laurel Foundation serves over 500 low-income, at-risk participants annually, including low-income youth, foster youth, youth from marginalized communities, and their families from all over the United States.
The mission of The Laurel Foundation is to empower children, youth, and families to thrive in environments built on trust, integrity, and mutual respect, creating compassionate, confident leaders. The Laurel Foundation Camps operates under the leadership of a board that includes professionals in printing, engineering, nonprofit leadership, HIV activism, web services, diversity, equity and inclusion, and medical care. The staff team includes a Founder/CEO, Director of Volunteers, Medical Director, Camp Director, Head Counselors, and a Mental Health Director for Camp Mulberry.
Medical and mental health leadership includes Medical Director Lisa Stangl (she/her), MSN, CPNP, an HIV Specialist with the UCSD Mother, Child and Adult HIV Program, and Mental Health Director Jordan Held, LCSW (he/him) for Camp Mulberry.
