Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast offers activities such as jewelry making, STEAM programs, and help with homework. The program also participates in the National Youth Outcomes Initiative (NYOI).

Since the first doors opened in 1966, Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast has served more than 1,500 registered youth members. The organization expanded programming in 2023 to include service to children enrolled in TK/Kindergarten programs. It provides healthy daily snacks and offers afterschool child development programming with adults who mentor and tutor members. Its programs are designed to achieve priority outcomes for lifetime success in three main areas: Education, Character, and Health.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast supports all youth and teens – of every race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, socio-economic status, and religion – in reaching their full potential. The organization offers safe, inclusive spaces and experiences that empower members’ learning and growth and continually updates and innovates safety policies, programs, and training for staff and volunteers.

Afterschool programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast are linked to improved academic success, with exposure to programs such as STEAM and help with homework. These afterschool programs provide a safe and structured environment and have demonstrated a proven reduction in risky behaviors by youth and teens who participate.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast serves members in the communities of Santa Maria, Guadalupe, Atascadero, Paso Robles, Creston, and Shandon. Through outreach, including sponsored arts and sports programs, it benefits an additional 4,000 local children each year. Agriculture and hospitality are the dominant employer groups in a large part of the region, and many members come from homes where one or more family members work in one of those industries.

Among members, 85% are Hispanic and Spanish is the predominant language spoken in the home. About 70% of members qualify for English Learner support in school, approximately 33% come from single parent homes, and approximately 90% qualify for free or reduced meal programs during the school year based on state and federal guidelines. Membership is 55% male and 45% female, with 17% of members being teenagers and 83% ages 6–12. One alumni testimonial states, “57% of Alumni say the club saved my life.”
