About
Alpine Hills Junior Tennis Programs offers junior tennis lessons, clinics, and competitions, including a Junior Comp Team and USTA Junior Team Tennis (JTT). The program also includes Red Ball Play Days, a beginner junior tennis tournament, and seasonal options such as Thanksgiving Boot Camp, Holiday Boot Camp, Spring Break Camp, and Summer Tennis Camps.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Seasonal boot camps and camps during Thanksgiving, winter holidays, spring break, and summer, with multiple summer sessions
In Thanksgiving Boot Camp, Holiday Boot Camp, Spring Break Camp, and Summer Tennis Camps, juniors take part in organized tennis activities on a set schedule of dates throughout the year. Year-round junior tennis clinics combine instruction, practice, and competition, and follow the USTA youth progression system with red, orange, and green balls and smaller courts for younger kids, while older kids can join both recreational and competitive clinics at different levels. The Junior Comp Team is offered in the fall, winter, and spring, and Alpine Hills typically registers JTT teams in the 10U, 12U, and 14U divisions, with opportunities for 15U and 18U teams. Red Ball Play Days are for introductory and intermediate players 9 and under at the BRONZE/BRONZE+ level, with matches played using a red ball on a short court and modified scoring, and players learn tennis scoring in a shorter, age-appropriate format.
The junior tennis programs are led by instructors that include former ranked professional players who provide world-class instruction, and the Assistant Racquets Director is Ogidi Obi. Junior Team Tennis at Alpine Hills is described as promoting values expected from any sport by fostering a spirit of cooperation, unity, and individual self-growth, and as a learning environment where kids learn that succeeding is described as being more about how they play the game, win or lose. Alpine Hills is a non-profit proprietary, member-owned club with 750 members, offering a variety of athletic and social activities for adults, children, and families, and is described as a home-away-from-home experience with year-round athletic activities, dining, and social opportunities. Alpine Hills recently earned Exceptional Status with Distinguished Clubs and is a local club that enters teams to play against other clubs in the Bay Area in USTA Junior Team Tennis, and is also a proud member of PASA (Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics), a youth swim program.
