About
Mountain Camp Woodside offers activities such as mountain biking, arts & crafts, soccer, swimming, archery, and outdoor survival. The program includes both a sleep-away resident camp for campers in grades 2–10 and a day camp program for campers in grades K–10. It is a co-ed summer camp with a minimal technology, non-competitive program that follows a back-to-basics approach to outdoor recreation.
• Ages: 5–15 years old
Mountain Camp Woodside states that its minimal technology and non-competitive program is designed to build confidence, grow independence, encourage friendships, healthy lifestyle choices, and develop 21st century skills. The program describes a belief that a back-to-basics approach to outdoor recreation and “plain ol’ fashion fun” is crucial to building a child’s positive self-image, and that a quality summer camp experience provides education, challenge, achievement, and acceptance. It notes that its atmosphere allows children to learn in a fun and safe environment that encourages independence while nurturing lasting friendships, and that Mountain Camp Woodside is dedicated to meeting the highest standards in the camp industry. The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and is a member of the Western Association of Independent Camps. The program is celebrating its 50th summer. One parent testimonial states, “Megan has spent many summers in various camps and she absolutely loved every minute of Mountain camp! After just the first day she came home and said, ‘I want to go another week!’”
