• Schedule: Family Resource Center office hours are Monday through Wednesday from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm, and Thursday and Friday by appointment, with Saturday and Sunday closed; Job Center employment, refugee, and youth services are open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with virtual services only on Friday.
• Price: The program hosts free community events and has free community activities and events.
The program offers mentoring services to youth ages 8–17 with an incarcerated caregiver, job search assistance, employment and career services, resources and referrals, short-term case management, and emergency supplies of basic needs. It is part of the Birth & Beyond Family Resource Center network with funding from First 5 Sacramento, Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services, Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance, and Sacramento Employment and Training Agency. The Family Resource Center is community-based in East Sacramento County and is committed to addressing the distinct needs of families and youth in Rancho Cordova, Folsom, and the surrounding areas. Staff members speak Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Dari/Farsi, and events and workshops are culturally responsive, including activities for Latinx and African American families.
One of the program’s key initiatives is the Trusted Messenger Project, which provides information to African American, Spanish, Dari, and Russian-speaking communities and has increased awareness about public health crises and emergencies. The program was founded in 1992 as a schools foundation and operates as the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership, a 501(c)3 community-based non-profit. It operates one of twelve America’s Job Centers in Sacramento County and brings together resources and programming in a Family Resource Center and Job Center to create a one-stop experience. The Family Resource Center served as Sacramento County’s first COVID-19 testing site, serving up to 500 individuals daily from underserved backgrounds, and now hosts a free Vaccine Clinic every month that is open to all community members regardless of insurance status, along with vaccine education and outreach and community-based testing.
PlayCare is free during some workshops and events and is described as a place where children can socialize, learn appropriate classroom behavior, and interact with caring adults in a safe and fun environment. Parenting workshops provide a space where parents can share their experiences. The program shares a monthly newsletter and posts events and activities. The mission of the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership is to enhance the education, health, and well-being of the children, youth, and adults of the community. One parent comment about the healthy vegan cooking and juicing workshop noted that the “meat” was actually pecans. The Resource Center Manager is Nelya Hryb.
