About
Launch Dance Center Programs include themed dance camps, multi-day intensives, ongoing dance classes, and performance projects. Children and teens can take part in Disney Mania Dance Camp, K-Pop Demon Hunters Dance Camp, the 3 Day Acro & Cirque Intensive, the 3 Day Ballet Intensive, the Professional Development Intensive, and the Launch Performance Project. The program also offers dance classes in ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, character, tap, modern, hip hop, acro, lyrical, stretch & strength, jumps & turns, choreography, acting/performance, dancing for the camera, improv, stagecraft, and costume and set design.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer camps run in 3- or 5-day sessions between June 29 and August 14, generally from 9:00AM to 3:30PM, with 3-day intensives from 9:00AM to 1:00PM and a Professional Development Intensive offered in two 5-day weeks from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.
• Price: Summer camps are $530 before April 10 and $580 after April 10; 3-day specialized intensives are $220 before April 10 and $240 after April 10; the Professional Development Intensive is $550 before April 10 and $600 after April 10 per week; the Launch Performance Project is $530 before April 10 and $580 after April 10.
Launch Dance Center states that its mission is to empower dancers to reach their fullest potential in the studio and in life, guided by core pillars of technique, strength, and mental well-being, and to develop strong, skilled performers who are confident, resilient, and compassionate individuals who shine on stage and thrive beyond it. The director and creator, Laura Wahl, leads the program as a director and teacher and holds a bachelor’s degree in dance from The American Musical And Dramatic Academy and an Arts & Entertainment Management diploma from Capalano University. Launch Dance Center provides training in the Royal Academy of Dance program with two tracks of examinations offered yearly and notes that all students over the age of 4 take part in at least one performance each year, with options to participate in The Nutcracker, a Winter Showcase, a Spring Production, dance competitions, and community performances. The program includes 3-day intensives focused on refinement and improvement, a Professional Development Intensive that is mandatory for Performance Co and Company dancers, and a Launch Performance Project that ends with a final showcase for family and friends. Launch Dance Center describes a warm, family-like atmosphere with strong technical training, team building activities planned by the National Dance Honors Society, support for Independent PE students, and an adult program in partnership with Lyric Dance Pro that offers classes in tap, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and a Performance Team. The program states that it believes in nurturing strong dancers and healthy minds, focusing on progress over perfection, building confidence, resilience, and self-worth, and creating a positive and happy experience that inspires a love and appreciation of all styles of dance and the arts. Launch Dance Center notes that its dancers participate in community volunteer activities and that it serves families in multiple South Bay cities, and it offers a Half Day option and pricing for certain summer camps upon request.
