About
The Growing Garden Preschool offers play and hands-on activities that include interactive circle time, reading in an indoor-outdoor school library, and art and building projects that are brought outdoors. Children use interactive outdoor equipment where they can climb, slide, imagine and socialize, and they have access to an outdoor music center where they can play and compose music. The program also includes parent & baby shared activities, parenting discussions, and opportunities to discover Jewish traditions through songs, recipes, discussions and crafts, along with a JBabies program where parents can meet other moms for socialization and support.

The Growing Garden Preschool describes its mission as fostering a life-long quest and love for learning while building a strong foundation for social, emotional, academic, physical and spiritual growth. The preschool states that it is the only Jewish Preschool in the South Bay that is Reggio Emilia inspired, with a curriculum designed in Reggio fashion to combine learning through self-discovery and teacher guidance, and with classrooms viewed as the “third teacher.” The environment is described as warm and loving, with a focus on developing early social/emotional skills, early communication skills, and building independent children with strong and healthy self-esteem, supported by manipulatives for building fine and gross motor mastery and small teacher/student ratios in the Infant Center.
The preschool site is described as safe, modern, and equipped with bright classrooms, indoor play areas, outdoor playgrounds, an indoor-outdoor school library open to the play yard, state-of-the-art learning materials, a full functioning children’s kitchen, and a children’s library filled with books. Classrooms are described as large, bright, warm and natural, with walls decorated solely with children’s creative work documenting their learning experiences, an emphasis on light, transparency and natural materials, and no commercial posters or plastic furniture bought from catalogs. The program also notes evidence of community and documentation of learning experiences and interactions of children, teachers, and families.
The Growing Garden Preschool describes its staff as warm and highly trained. It is described as a premier early education center in the South Bay, with an indoor/outdoor library for preschool children and a focus on teaching positive Jewish values. The preschool is affiliated with The Jewish Community Center, Academy of the Arts, JLA Hebrew School, and Camp Gan Israel Summer Camp, and it serves the South Bay area including Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach, with the Jewish Community Center described as “Your Jewish Home in the South Bay.” The program’s materials indicate copyright years from 2013 to 2023 for The Growing Garden – Jewish Preschool Serving Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach.
