About
Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau – Youth & Family Programs offers individual, family, and group therapy provided by licensed therapists and mental health professionals. These services use trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches that focus on healing, resilience, and emotional well-being for youth and their families.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
Since becoming a nonprofit in 1985, Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau – Youth & Family Programs has built strong collaborations with other agencies to support youth and families. The program is the only African American and Latinx-led agency of its kind in Contra Costa County and offers culturally responsive care. Wraparound services provide person-centered, strengths-based, and holistic support for Medi-Cal eligible youth ages 5–21 and their families. The organization’s mission is to empower youth, families, and communities through compassionate, culturally responsive support.
The program partners with Contra Costa County Employment & Human Services, Family Stress Center, and Uplift Family Services to expand resources and advocacy for Kinship families. Foster Family Network, the local chapter of the CA State Foster Parent Association, collaborates with the Kinship Services Program so caregivers of vulnerable children feel appreciated and supported. Davis Chapel C.M.E Church Women’s Missionary Society has partnered with the program for over 20 years to offer holiday food boxes, coats, school supplies, and life skills workshops in the community.
Community partners describe the program as a faithful and vital partner in work that focuses on youth and families, including support for foster caregivers and vulnerable children. Testimonials from Today’s Youth Matter, Foster Family Network, and Davis Chapel C.M.E Church Women’s Missionary Society highlight long-term collaboration and shared efforts to support children, youth, and their caregivers. Programs within Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau – Youth & Family Programs address academic achievement, mentorship, mental health, and truancy prevention.
