About
PGC Basketball Camps offers the Playmaker College Day Basketball Camp, which includes classroom sessions on basketball habits and skills, watching film of professional players, and on-court gym sessions. Players hear each habit or skill in the classroom first, see it on film, and then do it on the court. After 30 hours of learning, the camp ends with a final Ultimate Challenge.
• Ages: 12–17 years old
• Schedule: 5-day sessions, typically 9am–4pm
PGC Basketball Camps offers both 5-day, 4-night camps that include meals and accommodations, and day camps from 9am–4pm. This camp is open to boys and girls entering 7th–11th grade and is described as the ideal starting place for any player new to PGC, including advanced players. The majority of their day camps are limited to no more than 80 players. Four hours a day are spent in creative, challenging, and competitive gym sessions, and there are no talent shows, swim breaks, celebrity autograph sessions, or time where staff roll out the balls and “just play.”
PGC offers a 3-course curriculum that includes Playmaker College, Scoring College, and Point Guard College, and offers over 200 camps across North America in the summer and fall for players from 4th grade to college and the pros. Over 155,000 players and 11,500 coaches have attended a PGC camp over the past 34-plus years, with over 17,000 middle school and high school players and over 20,000 total players from middle school to college attending each year. Over the past decade, PGC has provided more than $2.5 million in financial assistance to players and contributed to initiatives locally and globally. PGC states its mission as: “We’re on a Mission...To Inspire and Equip Every Player & Coach Everywhere.”
PGC offers a 3-Camp Pass (3 camps for the price of 2, described as a 33% savings). PGC provides two guarantees: The PGC Promise, which is a 100% refund if a participant is not satisfied with improvement in basketball IQ, mindset, leadership, or playmaking, and the “Dicky D. Downright Crazy Guarantee,” which offers a full tuition refund plus an additional $500 cash if a participant is not completely satisfied.
Parents and coaches have provided testimonials about PGC Basketball Camps. Jeremy Brown, a parent of a PGC graduate, described Playmaker College with his 12-year-old son as “one of the most amazing experiences of both our lives” and said they received “a year’s worth of knowledge in one week.” Leagh Turner, Former Global Chief Operating Officer at SAP, described Playmaker College as “a leadership experience in the cloak of a basketball camp” and stated that what her boys experienced was among the best leadership and life training she had been exposed to. Billy Lange, an NBA assistant coach with the New York Knicks, said he was “blown away by the level of teaching” his son received and sensed higher confidence in his son as a basketball player, leader, and communicator. Jeremy Lin, a 9-year NBA veteran, stated, “The thing I love about Point Guard College is they teach players to think the game.” Coach John Wooden, named Coach of the Century by ESPN and winner of 10 NCAA Championships, said, “Point Guard College will greatly improve the play of any aspiring player.” Greg Brittenham, former New York Knicks assistant coach, stated, “If you can attend only one basketball camp this summer, make it Point Guard College. If you can attend five basketball camps this summer, make them all Point Guard College.”
