Rocklin's Tutoring Team

Rocklin's Tutoring Team offers individualized tutoring that includes homework help in core subjects, SAT and ACT prep, and college readiness programs in math and writing. The program provides the Barton Reading Program with systematic tutoring in phonemic awareness and phonics, as well as other reading and writing programs, including help with essays for students in 3rd grade and up through college and support with college application essays. Reading and writing programs are also available in the summertime and during holiday breaks, and students sit face to face with a tutor at a 3:1 ratio or less, with no busy work or required homework.

• Schedule: Weekday daytime and evening options during the school year, summer options Monday–Thursday afternoons, with all sessions by appointment only

Rocklin's Tutoring Team opened in 2008. The owner, Sherrie Thompson, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Sacramento State University and an ESL teaching credential from the Washington Academy of Languages. The leadership team includes owner Sherrie Thompson and Heather Miles, a long-time Barton-trained professional whose tutoring availability works well with homeschoolers. Tutors are trained in the local Common Core curriculum, stay informed about local school district curriculums, and keep local school books on hand, and inspiration for programs comes directly from local classrooms. Sherrie has assisted in local classrooms and school events over the years, and her daughter graduated in the class of 2017 from Rocklin High School. The program states that language arts, math, science, and SAT/ACT are all available with one purpose in mind: “YOUR CHILD'S SUCCESS!” Students can work with tutors in the center or remotely by Zoom or Google Doc sharing, including for essay support.
