Peak Adventures Youth Summer Camps includes outdoor trips, summer camps, team building at the Challenge Center, and access to a full service bike shop. Campers take part in activities such as sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, wake boarding, paddling, using personal water craft (“Jet Ski”), and rowing. The program is described as an outdoor youth summer camp that provides ample space to be outside, in fresh air, and experiencing the wonder and magic of camp, and it is designed to get campers off of their devices with a focus on creating memorable camp experiences in a safe, fun, and enriching environment.
• Ages: 7–17 years old
• Schedule: remote 4-week summer program
The youth camps include Junior Explorer Camp for ages 8–11, Explorer Camp for ages 12–15, and Overnight Camps for ages 13–16. Youth camps are part of a broader set of offerings in which the Aquatic Center provides classes, camps, facility reservations, team building, youth groups, and equipment rentals, and the Aquatic Center is open to the general public. Families do not need to bring their own equipment for water activities because the Aquatic Center offers equipment rentals.
The Aquatic Center has been involved with youth programs for over 35 years. It is recognized as the benchmark for boating safety and is a National Boating Instruction Safety Center. Related STEM camps at CSU Sacramento allow kids and teens to experience a week at the university. Summer Youth Academies students learn from Sacramento State professors, community college faculty, area public and private school teachers, and industry professionals, and Summer Youth Academies for 7th–10th graders and 9th–12th graders are led by campus faculty and industry experts.
Sacramento State will be hosting a table in the Sacramento Pride Festival on June 13–14 and is looking for volunteers to help staff the outreach table.
