About

San Bruno AYSO Region 249 Soccer Programs include AYSO Soccer Camps and Summer Kicks. The programs work with players on technical and tactical aspects of the game, appropriate to their age and skill level. Summer Kicks focuses on physical literacy and exciting games, with activities such as ball familiarization, small group dynamics, motor skill development, and social interaction with maximum participation.

• Ages: 4–14 years old
• Schedule: Summer Kicks sessions for ages 6–12 run June 13–15, 20–22, and 27–29; AYSO Soccer Camps run August 7–11 with week-long mini-camps (1.5 hours per day), half-day camps (3 hours per day), and full-day camps (6 hours per day), including 9am–12pm and 9am–3:30pm options
• Price: AYSO Soccer Camps 9am–12pm (ages 4–14) cost $125; 9am–3:30pm (ages 8–14) cost $168

AYSO Soccer Camps offer week-long sessions that enhance players’ technical development and skill building in a stimulating and positive environment, and players are challenged to consider key tactical components at an age-appropriate level. Six stated reasons for attending one of the soccer camps are: experiencing different cultures with coaches from the UK, Europe, and South America; structured learning for all ages and ability levels; skill acquisition and development; a safe, positive and fun environment; developing social values through the INSPIRE curriculum; and making new friends. AYSO’s Six Philosophies for these programs are Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development, with Everyone Plays meaning that every kid plays at least half of every game and teams are put together in a way that makes playing soccer about the experience, not wins or losses. AYSO’s main stated purpose is to get kids on the field, provide them with good coaches, and teach them to play soccer.

The mission statement for San Bruno AYSO Region 249 is “Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.” The leadership team includes Julia Dale-Jensen (Commissioner; 5U Coordinator; Team Parent/Banner Coordinator; Coach Instructor), Sue Moock (Treasurer), Joe Meyer (Field Director), Carmen Rogers (6U Coordinator), Brisa Casillas (10U Boys Coordinator), Jessica Lozada (10U Girls Coordinator), Darrin Bomba (12U Coordinator), Carlos Balagot (14U Coordinator; 16/19U Coordinator), Brian Muldowney (Referee Administrator; Coach Instructor), Sharon Davis (Secretary), Brent Villalobos (Webmaster), Maureen Allen (Registrar), Athena Rapues (Registrar), and Steve Dudum (Publications). The broader American Youth Soccer Organization notes community involvement through partnerships such as BEEUP Snacks as the Official Fruit Snack Partner for the 2025–2026 season, a Chicago Public Schools partnership to enhance youth sports programming, a partnership with the US Center for Mental Health & Sport focused on player and volunteer wellness, and a partnership with the Northland Sports Alliance expanding soccer programming in Kansas City. AYSO also notes that Michael Karon, President of AYSO, received the Stack Leadership Award from Stack Sports for his impact in the world of sports volunteering.
