About

San Carlos Youth Softball Association offers recreational fastpitch softball in the spring with a recreation season focused on teaching the fundamentals of fastpitch softball. The program also offers more competitive fastpitch softball programs during the summer and fall seasons, including a summer tournament and the Force tournament team. Most of the work of San Carlos Youth Softball Association is done by various committees led by parent volunteers, and it is run by volunteers of the athletes who play on its teams.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: The Board usually meets on the second Tuesday of each month; field status updates are available Monday–Friday via the Field Hotline at 650-802-4333, and on Saturday, Sunday, and weekdays after 5pm at 650-399-4470.

San Carlos Youth Softball Association was founded in the 1970s as part of Bobby Sox softball and took on its current name in 1989 when it joined the American Softball Association (ASA). In 1990, it held its first summer tournament, and in 2000 the tournament was named in honor of Jan Macpherson. It is governed by a Board of Directors elected each June to a 13-month term that runs from September 1 through September 30 of the following year, and the President serves as the principal liaison between the association and several local schools, city departments, councils, leagues, and officials’ organizations. The City of San Carlos has recognized the Summer Force Softball program. All parents, coaches, family, friends, and other adults are expected and required to exhibit good sportsmanship and abide by the Code of Conduct at all times, and San Carlos Youth Softball Association is always looking for more volunteers, including board members, game-day help, and behind-the-scenes roles. Each year, the association offers scholarships to one or more alumnae of the league who are graduating high school and continuing their education.

On rainy days, natural grass fields are often closed to protect players as well as fields, and turf fields are often kept open, while on some rainy days the fields will typically be closed to protect players and the turf. The association does not permit minors shown in any pictures displayed online to be identified by name in any captions or associated text, and it does not allow images of its players to be used by third parties without their parents’ separate, prior consent. If a child appears in a photo on the association’s website that a parent is not comfortable having displayed, San Carlos Youth Softball Association will either remove the photo from the website or edit it so that the child cannot be recognized. Parents are encouraged to contact any Board member at any time, and the Player Agent is designated to help answer questions or resolve concerns.
