The Children's Place Preschool is a play-based, non-profit early-education program where children take part in activities such as building with blocks, dramatic play, painting at the easel, and exploring nature. Children engage in hands-on activities in art, science, music, drama, and movement, and also have access to indoor play equipment. The program includes indoor play and rainy-day activities in Mahany Hall, as well as enrichment classes.

• Schedule: Open year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
The Children's Place Preschool offers full-day programs for children aged 2 years through Pre-Kindergarten, with flexible scheduling options for 2, 3, or 5 days a week. Parents may choose the hours of attendance within operating hours, and part-time children may attend an additional day for an added fee if space is available. The program features small class sizes with 2 teachers in each class and is staffed by qualified and experienced teaching staff.
The Children's Place Preschool operates as a non-profit under the advisement of a Board of Directors, which meets the fourth Wednesday of each month via Zoom. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to schedule a visit by calling or emailing, and inquiries about the Board of Directors can be directed to [email protected]. Since 1981, The Children's Place has been a trusted provider of childcare services to the greater San Carlos community and is licensed through CDSS TCP Facility ID: 410-50-3906.
At The Children’s Place, the stated mission is that play is the foundation of early childhood development, with a play-based learning model that empowers children to explore, create, problem-solve, and connect with others in meaningful ways. The program describes play-based learning as supporting the whole child, including academic readiness as well as emotional, social, and physical growth. The Children's Place Preschool is a non-sectarian program and is now accepting registrations for the 2025–2026 year with full-time and part-time openings, including a play-based Pre-K program described as building kindergarten readiness through hands-on learning, social-emotional growth, and exploration, with small class sizes, caring teachers, and affordable tuition in a warm, nurturing environment.
