The Children's Place Preschool

The Children's Place Preschool is a play-based, non-profit early-education program that includes hands-on activities in art, science, music, drama, and movement. Children also have indoor play, including access to indoor play equipment, and use Mahany Hall, a large multipurpose room, for indoor play and rainy-day activities. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to schedule a visit.

• Ages: 2–5 years old
• Schedule: Open year-round, Monday through Friday, with hours from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

The Children's Place Preschool offers full-day programs for children aged 2 years through Pre-Kindergarten, with both full-time and part-time openings. Families can choose flexible scheduling with options for 2, 3, or 5 days a week, and parents may choose the hours of attendance within operating hours. Part-time children may attend an additional day for an added fee if space is available.

Since 1981, The Children's Place has been a trusted provider of childcare services to the greater San Carlos community and is operated as a non-profit under the advisement of a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets the fourth Wednesday of each month via Zoom, and inquiries about the Board of Directors can be sent to [email protected]. The program has small class sizes with 2 teachers in each class and a qualified and experienced teaching staff.

At The Children’s Place, the stated mission is that play is the foundation of early childhood development, and the program follows a play-based learning model. The program describes its play-based Pre-K as designed to build kindergarten readiness through hands-on learning, social-emotional growth, and exploration.
