About

Camp Israel Ami is a traditional summer camp that includes peulot, fun workshops, and exciting outings. The program describes the camp as an experience full of these activities and unforgettable moments where janijim build friendships that last a lifetime. Participants are divided into groups based on age and gender.

• Ages: 3–15 years old
• Schedule: Regular camp schedule Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with extended or modified times on long field trip days
• Price: To reserve a spot, each participant must submit a non-refundable deposit of $120 per session, which cannot be applied to their Ken account or transferred to another participant in the event of cancellation.

Camp Israel Ami is part of a nonprofit organization that brings together Latin Jews in San Diego in an environment of community, identity, and belonging. The organization promotes the development of values, the strengthening of Jewish identity, the connection with Israel, and the preservation of culture through educational, social, and leadership programs. It is a community of more than 400 families that offers activities for all stages of life, from babies to seniors, and has more than 250 chanichim in its youth movement Macabi Tikvat Majar and about 50 madrichim. The organization accompanies chanichim in meaningful experiences like the trip to Israel through Aluma, creates gathering spaces with at least 15 annual activities for adult groups Lejaim and Lejaim Zahav, and creates community events that bring people together and strengthen their sense of belonging. It also drives Tikun Olam projects in all its kvutzot.

All required forms and documents for each Janij are available in an online system prior to the start of Camp, and families are notified when the forms are ready to be completed. These forms must be completed in full, without exception, before the Janij may begin participation in Camp. The organization’s story begins in the early 1980s, when a group of Mexican Jewish families arrived in San Diego and Tijuana in search of new opportunities and a different future.
