San Diego Dance Theater School offers summer dance workshops, cross-border projects, and performances, including the yearly site-specific performance Trolley Dances™. The program also includes a joyful, multigenerational Spring Showcase performance, with the Spring Showcase 2026 scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:30pm and 5:30pm. Adult and Aging Creatively weekly classes are also part of the program’s activities.

San Diego Dance Theater School is part of a nonprofit performing arts organization that is a modern dance company and school committed to providing a home to dancers of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. San Diego Dance Theater was founded in 1972. The leadership team includes Founder George Willis, Artistic Director Jean Isaacs (appointed in 1997), and current Executive Artistic Director Terry Wilson. George Willis is Professor Emeritus of Dance at San Diego State University. The organization states a mission to create and perform dances that breathe life into the people of the region and beyond, and to provide access to professional training and the performance of these dances by people representing diversity of all kinds. Its five core values are curiosity, creativity, passion, connection, and empowerment. The organization is known for cross-border projects and for its long-standing crowd favorite performance Trolley Dances™. It offers Adult and Aging Creatively weekly classes as part of its programming.
San Diego Dance Theater School and its parent organization publish a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement, a Land Acknowledgement for the Kumeyaay Nation, a Black Lives Matter Statement of Solidarity, and a statement of solidarity with the AAPI community. The organization acknowledges that company rehearsals and performances occur on the un-ceded territory of the Kumeyaay Nation. It states that it stands with the Black community and all people of color, and that it stands together with Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities.
