Joyful Keys Music Studio was founded as an evolution of community involvement in music and demand for lessons and has been in operation since 2002. The studio operates full time with separate music rooms for private instruction and offers lessons on a monthly basis with no long-term contracts. The founder, Joy Pappas, is a graduate of San Diego State University, where she studied music and performed in numerous solo and ensemble settings, and she has experience teaching, directing, and performing music in San Diego public school districts, churches, public choirs, and private performances. Instructors at the studio are described as talented, educated, and experienced.
The studio’s primary mission is to provide a higher quality of instruction than is normally available at affordable rates. Its secondary mission is to go beyond the mechanics of instruments and vocal expression by including principles and theory of music, and to move at a pace that is comfortable for each student while encouraging performance development through studio recitals.
