Instructor Andrew Eidson leads the program. He started practicing Judo in 1992 and trained under 6th-degree black belt Paulo Fernando Agusto. After earning his black belt in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and testing in São Paulo, Brazil, he now holds a 3rd-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He spent years as Paulo’s assistant instructor at one of San Diego County’s largest academies before opening his own school.
The program follows a non-ego, process-oriented approach in a family-friendly, supportive, and non-intimidating atmosphere. Its mission centers on using Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in San Diego, CA, as a vehicle for personal growth and community connection, with training programs that support competitors, fighters, and families. Kids and teen classes go beyond physical techniques to instill values such as respect, perseverance, and teamwork. The community extends beyond class time, and the training focuses on practical applications that are relevant to everyday life, with practical applications for real situations. The academy emphasizes a non-ego environment where everyone can thrive and uses process-oriented training that celebrates every victory. The program is described as a transformative kids program that builds character. The school has been building a supportive community since Andrew Eidson first stepped onto the mat, and his teaching philosophy has evolved from creating competitors to supporting families and building community connections.
