San Diego and Seaside Volleyball Club Programs offer volleyball skill development that includes serving, passing, hitting, blocking, setting, and digging. The programs include local programs, summer camps, holiday camps, Open Gym Volleyball sessions, and team camps. Camps are described as suitable for players of all levels seeking to develop or refine overall skill in these specific volleyball areas, and the Jump Start Youth Program is described as suitable for beginning players who have little or no experience and would like to learn the fundamentals.

San Diego Volleyball Club was established in 1986 as the first girls’ volleyball club in San Diego and is described as the longest running volleyball club in San Diego and the first club to host local tournaments. Seaside Volleyball Club was founded in 1989 and was welcomed into San Diego Volleyball Club in 2009 as its boys’ program, and Seaside is described as the first boys’ club in San Diego. The mission of the program is summarized as “Learning Life Through Volleyball,” with stated goals to build confident young people, help athletes excel at and develop a life-long love of the sport, and teach athletes to have a strong sense of respect for themselves and others.

Under the guidance of Directors Dave Whittaker, Ashley Payne, Russ Bird, and Kim Bird, the coaching staff uses the latest instructional techniques in individual and team play, and under the guidance of Director Russ Bird, Seaside looks to continue to build upon its foundation. The club notes that it is centrally located in Northern San Diego in the community of 4S Ranch and is easily accessible from the 5, 56, and 15 freeways. Within a mile of the club there are numerous places to eat and shop.

San Diego Girls VBC reports 3 National Championships, hundreds of alumni who have played or are playing in college, and recognition as the longest running volleyball club in San Diego and the first to host local tournaments. Seaside Boys VBC reports 4 National Championships, hundreds of alumni who have played or are playing in college, and recognition as the first boys’ club in San Diego and the only boys’ club in San Diego to win a national championship, with four titles. Seaside 17-Mikasa won the 2010 17 Open Junior National Championship, and in 2017 Seaside 17 Black took bronze at the Nationals.
