San Diego and Seaside Volleyball Club offers Summer Open Gym, local programs, summer camps, tournaments, and team camps. Athletes take part in volleyball skills training, individual and team play, and activities that focus on teamwork and self-esteem.
The leadership team includes Directors Dave Whittaker, Ashley Payne, and Russ and Kim Bird for San Diego Volleyball Club, Director Russ Bird for Seaside Volleyball Club, and Recruiting Coordinator Lindsey Olhausen-Scott. San Diego Volleyball Club and San Diego Girls VBC were established in 1986, and Seaside Volleyball Club was founded in 1989 and was welcomed into SDVBC as the Boys Program in 2009. The stated mission is “Learning Life Through Volleyball,” with goals to build confident young people, help athletes excel at and develop a life-long love of the sport, and teach athletes to have a strong sense of respect for themselves and others. San Diego Girls VBC has 3 National Championships, is the longest running volleyball club in San Diego, was the first club to host local tournaments, and has hundreds of alumni who have played or are playing in college. Seaside Boys VBC has 4 National Championships, was the first boys club to host local tournaments, has hundreds of alumni who have played or are playing in college, and is the only boys club in San Diego to win a national championship. The facility includes 7 tournament courts and a training court, with each tournament court having courtside seating areas, and a snack bar open during tournament hours near the front of the facility close to the restrooms at the northwest corner of Court 1. Only water is allowed on the courts, and outside food and drinks may be brought in but must stay on the non-playing surface, with coolers and tables required to remain outside. Within a mile of the club there are numerous places to eat and shop.
