About

Summer Camps at The New Children’s Museum offer award-winning, project-based children’s art camps that include hands-on artmaking, exploration, and imaginative play. Campers work on individual and collaborative projects such as making toys that move, sewing a plushie, making a board game, and creating a splatter painting with a spinning top. Activities include building, collage, painting, printmaking, relief printing, stamping, sun printing, sculpture, clay, and creating artwork inspired by fairy tale and fantasy stories, local wildlife, and ocean ecosystems.

• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:45am–3:45pm, week-long camps
• Price: Camp pricing is the same for both members and non-members; camps are $550 per week

Campers learn about different art styles and cultures from around the globe and create characters and stories through paint, sketch, narrative, and sculpture. Some camps focus on ceramics, where campers learn hand-building techniques including pinch pots, coils, and slabs, and experiment with texture, surface design, and glazing. Other sessions include designing maps and fantastical places, making magical spells, bringing creatures to life through painting, drawing, and building, and exploring media such as painting, fiber art, and ceramics. Additional activities include creating prints, watercolors, mobiles, and other artwork inspired by nature, discovering color and light when making a galaxy, obstacle courses, using natural materials to make art, inventing exploration tools, and participating in daily art and design challenges. Campers also experiment with tools and mediums such as hammers, sewing, wood burning, and mixed media sculpture, drawing, collage, and printmaking projects, and there is a sensory-friendly mixed media explorations camp option.

Summer Camps at The New Children’s Museum are led by professional artist-educators. The Museum states that its interactive art installations and hands-on art programming provide creative and educational experiences for children and families. The Museum is a nonprofit institution and donates a 3–4 person membership to nonprofit organizations for fundraising events benefiting the community. Expanded camp offerings include new experiences created with older kids in mind, and registration for 2026 Summer Camps is open. The Museum also offers weekend pottery workshops for adults, teens, kids 8+, plus Clay Together for ages 5–7 with an adult.
