About
Aim High Summer is a no-cost summer program that includes activities such as art, sports, board games, movie making, cooking, energizer games, and other enrichment activities. Students take part in a STEM Class, Humanities Class, Issues & Choices Class, Advisory, Activities/Enrichment, a Morning Circle Assembly, and a Closing Circle Assembly as part of a structured daily schedule.
• Ages: 10–14 years old
• Schedule: Summer 2026 sessions run for several weeks, with students beginning one week after teachers and a sample day running from a 9:00am Morning Circle Assembly to a 3:15pm dismissal, plus early drop off at 8:00am and extended care until 5:00pm at some campuses
• Price: no-cost summer program
Aim High is designed for current 5th–8th grade middle school students who have limited access to summer academic enrichment programs and is committed to a multi-summer learning experience from 5th through 8th grade, with students expected to attend consecutive summers throughout middle school. The program states that it has implemented restorative practices to prevent and respond to conflict, harm, and wrongdoing, and that its behavior expectations and interventions are rooted in these practices. Aim High identifies its CORE values as Community, Opportunity, Respect, and High Expectations and states that, guided by these values, it aims to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. The program notes that it has a student support process for those with IEP or 504 plans, including review of documents and informing site leaders and staff about accommodations, and that it is not equipped with a full SPED department at summer program locations and is unable to provide 1:1 full day support for students. Oakland Unified School District students are instructed to apply through Inplay. An Aim High parent describes the program as a lifeline as a working parent, noting confidence that their child experiences both fun and learning, easy communication, strong program offerings, enjoyment of instructors, and a chance for their child to experience middle school-style transitions between classes, different enrichment options, new sports, and mentorship.
