Collective Impact, which runs Magic Zone, was founded in 2007. Magic Zone offers out-of-school programming for students K–12 during the school year and summer, serving more than 100 youth from two sites in the Western Addition. The program takes a youth development approach, integrating project-based learning in academic, enrichment, and recreational activities. During the school year, the high school program offers year-round programming for teens and has a partnership with the San Francisco Unified School District to support chronically truant youth. Magic Zone’s workforce development and job readiness services operate through the Community Safety Initiative and a partnership with Mayor London Breed's Opportunities for All initiative. The majority of people served by Collective Impact programs are opportunity youth, and nearly 90% live in low-income households and qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Youth Tennis Programming at Magic Zone is made possible through a community partnership with the United States Tennis Association and Collective Impact, with sponsorship and ongoing support from the USTA Foundation and the Olympic Club Foundation. More than 100 Fillmore District youth during the school year, and more than 300 young people during the summer months, take regular tennis lessons on the Ella Hill Hutch courts. The tennis courts at Ella Hill Hutch are open to the public Monday through Saturday on a first-come, first-served basis. The sports courts at Hayes Valley Clubhouse were funded with a $99,500 grant from the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation and with support of Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia.

Coach Mike (Michael Hall) is the tennis program manager. He is a San Francisco native who grew up in the Western Addition, had a prep career at Mission High School, played NCAA Division II tennis at Hampton University in Virginia, and then played professional tennis from 1989 to 1994 in tournaments around the world. Collective Impact’s mission is to provide youth, families, and programs with the tools and resources they need to succeed. Mo'MAGIC is a collaborative of Fillmore District partner organizations focused on building a thriving community for everyone and operates under the umbrella of the Public Defender’s office. Ella Hill Hutch Community Center is named after the first Black woman elected to San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors.
