The program’s motto is “Trust Your Spark.”
• Ages: 18 months–8 years old
• Schedule: Class and club options Monday–Friday, including morning Dress Up & Imagine, afternoon Dress Up & Dance, and after-school Club Make-Believe sessions
• Price: Classes: $120/month; Clubs: $240/month
The Rabbit Hole Children’s Theater Programs offer a membership program with rotating brand-new pretend play themes each week during the school year, and each theme comes alive through age-appropriate curriculum, songs, and theatrical games. Membership includes a monthly puppet show and a membership bag with an at-home adventure bag, sticker charts, coloring pages, and activities, and memberships automatically pause June–August during summer camps. The program offers free trial classes, mobile storyteller parties, studio birthday parties, and classroom experiences as part of its studio offerings, with an emphasis on process over performance and a unique, play-based approach to arts education.
The leadership and teaching team includes Brooke Patton (Owner, Founder, Director), Strider Patton (Head of Social Media, Craftsman, Teacher, Performer), Kelsey Sailors (Operations Manager, Teacher), Bee Betwee (Head of Production), Mary Eriette Atanante (School Coordinator, Teacher, Performer), Jake Gleason (Birthday Coordinator, Teacher, Performer), Meryl Theo Press (Head Illustrator, Teacher, Performer), Sid McNulty (Artist, Teacher, Performer), Lauren (Artist, Teacher, Performer), Izzy (Artist, Teacher, Performer), Sam (Artist, Teacher, Performer), Naomi (Artist, Teacher, Performer), Jenell Del Cid (Head Puppeteer, Teacher, Performer), and Samira Ghassemian (Teacher & Performer). Sam studied Media and Theatre at Scripps College; Sid is a graduate of Portland State University with a background in musical theatre and Shakespeare; and Sara holds a B.A. in theatre arts from UC Santa Cruz with a primary focus on acting and dance and has also studied physical theatre in the UK and Greece. The team has been developing their play-based approach to arts education since 2013.
The Rabbit Hole Children’s Theater Programs have been voted Best Birthday Parties, Summer Camps, Field Trips, Live Puppet Shows, and After-School Clubs. Presidio Knolls School has worked with Rabbit Hole Theater in its Auxiliary program for several years, and NVFC has been attending Rabbit Hole Theater for many years as part of their dedicated curriculum, and the program also offers school outreach. Testimonials describe the program as “Happiest place on earth. Highly recommended!” for Dress Up & Imagine and “1 million stars! We love you!” for Dress Up & Dance (Bunny Ballet), and note children raving about The Rabbit Hole, being very excited to be in classes, and having “pure fun and joy” in make-believe afternoons. Parents and schools report long-term participation, describe the place and people as a “treasure,” and highlight themed classes with emphasis on kindness and empathy, as well as teachers who “spend time getting to know each one” and “create a fabulous world of magic and imagination” that includes all children in stories, songs, and games.
