Mission Basilica Preschool offers programs that provide a developmental experience for students through a balance of academic and play-based learning that incorporates the faith and love of God. The preschool’s goal is to provide a safe and nurturing experience for students and families to learn and grow together. Extended Day Care is available for students in the 2-year-old program through Grade 8, and all students must be signed out in Extended Care for child safety.
• Ages: 2–5 years old
• Schedule: Half-day and full-day class options Monday–Friday, Monday–Thursday, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and Tuesday/Thursday, generally between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Mission Basilica Preschool is part of Mission Basilica School, which is looking ahead to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2028, and Mission Basilica School students are affectionately known as swallows. Transitional Kindergarten serves children who do not meet the September 1st age requirement for Kindergarten and children who are age-eligible for Kindergarten but will benefit from an extra year before Kindergarten. The Preschool Director is Laura Bullock.
Mission Basilica is a Catholic school whose faculty and staff, in partnership with parents, state that they are committed to preparing Christ-centered students who are Faith-Filled Catholics, Life-Long Learners, Responsible Citizens, and Respectful People. Mission Basilica School’s administration, faculty, and staff endorse the call of the Catholic Bishops of the United States to express their educational ministry through the objectives of personal spirituality, social justice, and a strong academic program in accord with the Curriculum Guide for Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Orange. Mission Basilica School is awarded the Certificate of Accreditation through WASC and WCEA and is connected to Mission Basilica and Mission San Juan Capistrano in a rich historical setting. Mission Basilica School states that it strives to provide an environment where each student is given the opportunity to reach their greatest potential spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially, and globally, and its School Charism is “Siempre Adelante y Nunca Lejos Del Amor De Dios” (Saint Junipero Serra) – “Always forward and never away from the love of God.”
