About

Kennel Boxing Youth & Teen Boxing is part of the Kennel Boxing gym’s boxing programs, which also include Adult Beginner Boxing, Intermediate Boxing, Advanced Boxing, Strength & Conditioning, Personal Training, and a running event called “Running Event: Get your miles in.” Youth and teen boxers train in a gym that has a free weights zone, heavy bag training zone, cardio and endurance zone, strength and powerlifting zone, and a boxing and sparring zone. A free trial boxing class has been described as lasting about 50 minutes.

• Ages: 10–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options are available Monday–Friday during morning and late afternoon/evening hours, and Saturday mornings; a free trial class has been described as about 50 minutes long.

Kennel Boxing was opened in 2009 by Head Coach and Owner Coach Arvin, together with his brothers Brian and Diovanne Jugarap and their uncle Nonito Donaire Sr., in partnership with Oula Jugarap, Emily Smith, and Jorge Vargas. The program operates under a mission “to build a championship mindset through professional boxing, inclusive programs, and personal growth” and to help fighters and fitness enthusiasts reach their full potential through discipline, community, and hard work. The coaching staff includes Coach Arvin, a licensed pro and amateur coach; Coach Dennis, a USA Boxing Certified Coach; Coach Gerald, a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Nutrition Coach, and 2017 California Golden Gloves Heavyweight Novice Champion; and Coach B, a USA Boxing Certified Coach.

Under Coach Arvin’s guidance, Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton won the IBA Super Bantamweight World Title in September 2009. The gym hosts Battle at the Kennel competition events, offers corporate and youth programs, and has been described as a community hub for fitness and boxing and as more than a gym, a home for fighters of all levels. Kennel Boxing runs a running event in collaboration with Forever Forward Running Club. A Kennel Store at the gym offers boxing gear and apparel, and members can ask coaches for recommendations and gear up before sessions.

Parents have described their children enjoying training, feeling welcomed by other kids, and receiving one-on-one attention from trainers. Multiple testimonials mention Coach Arvin being great with kids, staff and coaches being passionate about boxing, and front staff being friendly and helpful with questions and scheduling. Families and adult members have also noted that the gym provides different levels of classes for different age groups and that private training classes are available.
