Youth in the Arts Program

Youth in the Arts Program gives students hands-on experience and training in Theatre, Music, Comedy, Dance, Production, and Technology. Students take part in event production, promotion, and event management, and the program ends with them participating in, producing, promoting, and running a live event. Subjects covered include booking talent, basic budgets, production processes, stage and event management, concert promotions and marketing, event lighting and design, sound engineering, mixing, recording, video production, editing of events, and planning.

The mission of Curtain Call Performing Arts is to promote and produce programs in Theatre, Music, Comedy, Concerts, Dance, Training and performance experiences for youth and adults. Youth in the Arts Program is part of this work and focuses on teaching techniques and tools needed to develop and refine production and performance skills. Curtain Call Performing Arts states that this program gives students chances to explore their inner artist while challenging them to stretch beyond their comfort zone as a producer, performer, musician, and entertainer.

Curtain Call Performing Arts offers assembly performance programs to school children, families, and adults in surrounding communities and uses San Leandro’s Historic BAL Theatre for its community programming. Curtain Call Performing Arts also has a mission of maintaining and leading the restoration of the Historic BAL Theatre and is constantly working to preserve arts, entertainment, and history within the community. Curtain Call Performing Arts states that it is dedicated to making sure students who have a drive to learn can participate in workshops and are given an opportunity to take part.
