Youth in the Arts Program

The Youth in the Arts Program includes hands-on experience and training in theatre, music, comedy, dance, production, and technology. Students take part in event production, promotion, and event management, and the program culminates with them participating in, producing, promoting, and running a live event. The program covers the full event production process from concept through completion, including booking talent, creating basic budgets, working through production processes, stage and event management, concert promotions and marketing, event lighting and design, sound engineering, mixing, recording, video production, editing of events, and planning.

The Youth in the Arts Program is part of Curtain Call Performing Arts, whose mission is to promote and produce programs in theatre, music, comedy, concerts, dance, training, and performance experiences for youth and adults. Curtain Call Performing Arts offers assembly performance programs to school children, families, and adults in surrounding communities, and its Main Stage Theatre Program extends theatre experiences to the general population and offers chances for community members of all ages to work together in theatre productions and culturally diverse events. Curtain Call Performing Arts uses San Leandro’s Historic BAL Theatre for its community programming and has the mission of maintaining and leading the restoration of the Historic BAL Theatre.
