Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos Afterschool & Summer Programs offers before-school, afterschool, and summer programs during the hours when school is not in session. Programs take place at main Club branches, teen centers, school campuses, and a housing site, and focus on Academic Success, Civic Engagement & Healthy Lifestyles.

Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos serves youth ages 6 (and enrolled in the 1st grade) to 18 during the hours when they are out of school and away from parental supervision. The organization strives to provide children and teens with a safe environment, adult role models who respect and listen to them, and interesting, constructive educational and recreational activities. Programs are free for eligible families.
The Club has a 16,000-square-foot main branch called the Jennifer Loscher Building and a 6,500-square-foot Teen Center that serves high school-aged youth. It also has a second standalone Clubhouse and 11 extension sites throughout San Marcos on school campuses and affordable housing communities, for a total of 12 locations throughout the community. The Club serves more than 2,500 young people through programs and services provided in the Club setting and at community events and functions.
During the school year, the Jennifer Loscher Branch offers a morning program Monday–Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and an afterschool program Monday–Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Administrative Office & Membership Desk are open Monday–Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Jennifer Loscher Branch summer hours are Monday–Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Teen Center & Teen Tech Center operate during the school year Monday–Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for afterschool programs. In the summer, the Teen Center offers a Middle School Camp Monday–Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and a High School Drop In program Monday–Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Walter J. & Betty C. Zable Foundation Branch runs an afterschool program Monday–Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the school year. In the summer, this branch is open Monday–Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Melrose Villas Apartments housing site offers a school year program Monday–Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Before-school programs are available for students at Richland Elementary and San Marcos Elementary. An afterschool transportation program is available for students at Discovery Elementary, Knob Hill Elementary, Mission Hills High School, Paloma Elementary, Richland Elementary, San Marcos High School, and Twin Oaks Elementary.
Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos runs on-campus afterschool programs for students from multiple local schools, including Carillo Elementary School, Discovery Elementary School, Double Peak School, Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary School, Knob Hill Elementary School, La Costa Meadows Elementary School, La Mirada Academy, Mission Hills High School, Paloma Elementary, Richland Elementary, San Elijo Elementary School, San Elijo Middle School, San Marcos Elementary School, San Marcos High School, San Marcos Middle School, Twin Oaks Elementary, Twin Oaks High School, and Woodland Park Middle School. Knob Hill Elementary School and Richland Elementary School programs are available for eligible families in partnership with SMUSD Extended Student Services. The San Elijo Elementary School site serves students from Carrillo Elementary School, San Elijo Elementary School, and La Costa Meadows Elementary School.
Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos opened its doors in 1979 at Woodland Park. In 1995, the 16,000-square-foot main branch, the Jennifer Loscher Building, was opened. In 2005, the 6,500-square-foot Teen Center opened to serve high school-aged youth.
The Club’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos is part of a nationwide movement of community-based, autonomous organizations and Boys & Girls Clubs of America working to help youth of all backgrounds develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. Programs focus on three outcome areas: Academic Success, Civic Engagement & Healthy Lifestyles.
