About
Collenette School of Dancing offers ballet instruction at the Collenette School of Dancing studio. Classes are taught by the current owner, who also serves as a teacher, choreographer, costume maker, and is described as a child whisperer.
• Schedule: Office hours Monday–Friday afternoons and evenings, and Saturdays during the day
The Collenette School of Dancing was founded in 1926 by Beatrice Collenette, who was the first student and protégé of Anna Pavlova. Beatrice’s daughter, Joan Collenette Damon, continued the traditions started by her mother for the next 40 years. The studio is now operated by third-generation owner Emily Bratmon, who has run the studio for the last 20 years.
Emily Bratmon has 39 years of dancing experience and was a pupil and performer at the studio for over 20 years. She danced there until college at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California, and also danced with the Pasadena Dance Theater as a child. She spent two summers performing with the Salzburg International Ballet Company in Salzburg, Austria.
Ms. Emily believes that ballet is a fascinating art form which promotes life-long poise, discipline, exercise, and confidence. Her mission is to offer correct classical technique in a wholesome and nurturing environment, with small class sizes, individualized instruction, and a fun and positive learning environment. The studio features show pictures from 1926 to 2026.
